Construction of pile foundation of Omo River Bridge Project - Ethiopia Roads Authority

1. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated sufficient budget towards the construction of pile foundation of Omo River Bridge Project.

2. Omo River Bridge is located in the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Administration Region.

The works under this contract consist of construction of pole foundation and piers or Omo River Bridge Project. The foundation types being cast in suit reinforced concrete Piles of diameter 0.6m and total length of 4400m. The piles are of vertical and buttering types. As per the design, vertical piles consist of 20m and 35m long piles, and at the buttering ones consist of 20m long piles.

The Work involves the following

Drilling of holes for concrete piles

Retaining of the drilled holes

Setting of reinforcement bars

Preparation of concrete mix

Casting and curing of concrete for piles and pile cap, piers and piers caps

Erection of dowels on the abutment pile caps to be extended to the piers

Geotechnical investigation

And the expected duration of completion is 450 calendar days including mobilization period.

3. The Employer will evaluate and compare only bids determined to be substantially responsive to the requirements of the bidding document.

4. The Ethiopia Roads Authority invites all local and international contactors fulfilling the following criteria.

4.1 Contracts register in Ethiopia are required to present.

Renewed registration certificate at least for the year 1997 E.C. under category 1 form Ministry of Infrastructure for the drilling and construction of pile foundation.

Renewed business license for 1997 E.C.

Registration certificate for VAT.

4.2 Contractors not registered in Ethiopia are required to present:

Renewed contractor’s license (Equivalent to 4.1 above) for 2005 G.C. by a competent authority in their respective country

Notarized authentication on the above document.

5. Interested bidder may obtain further information and collect the bidding and collect the bidding documents form Ethiopia Roads Authority, Engineering Service Procurement Design & Technical Supper Division Office, 2nd floor, Room No. 207, Fax 251-011-551 48 66, Tel. 251-011-551 00 52.

6. The bidding document is prepared in English Language and can be purchased as of November 02, 2005 on presentation of the required documents under item #4 above the on submission of a written application to the General Manager of ERA and upon payment of non-refundable fee of Ethiopia Birr 750 (ETB Seven Hundred Fifty) or USD 85 (USD Eighty Five) made payable to Ethiopia Roads Authority. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of Ethiopian Birr 100,000 (ETB One Hundred Thousand) or its equivalent amount in USD.

7. The bid and qualification documents for the subject project should be prepared in one original and four copies and be submitted to General Manager Office, Equipment Roads Authority, P.O. Box 1770, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Fax 251-011-551 48 66, Tel. 011-515 66 03 on or before 20th December 2005 at local time 2:30 P.M.

8. Bids will be opened immediately after the closing time for submission.

9. A bid which is received late will not be considered.

10. ERA reserves the right to reject any or all bids.

1. The Regional Liaison Office for Africa of the United Nations high Commissioner for Refugees would like to sell used/second-hand vehicles and interested bidders to submit their offer for each of the vehicles.

Importance of fertilizer - National Bank of Ethiopia

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has allocated foreign currency for the importance of fertilizer.

The National Bank of Ethiopia hereby invites all interested eligible importers to submit their offers for the importation of 75, 2005 MT+ 15% DAP fertilizer in three lots.

Detailed guidelines and standard bid document can be collected against payment of non-refundable Birr 400.00 or USD 50.00 form the Foreign Exchange Statistics and Monitoring Department, National Bank of Ethiopia, located in the new building NBE, 1st Floor.

All eligible importers must submit unconditional proof of financial capacity for the importation of the fertilizer. Failure to submit this financial proof will lead to an automatic rejection.

All bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes marked “Application for Foreign Exchange Fertilizer Facility IFB No. NBE/FEFF/ICB/59/2005″ and addressed to NBE, Foreign Exchange Fertilizer Facility Committee, Addis Ababa.

All bids must be accompanied by a 2% bid bond of the import value in an acceptable form such as: CPO, or Bank Guarantee only and must be submitted on or before 2:00 P.M. December 1, 2005 which is the closing and opening date of the tender.

Bids shall also be accompanied by overseas supplier’s bid security equivalent of USD 1 per MT in the form of Bank Guarantee.

Bids shall be opened and read in the presence of bidders or their authorized representatives at 2:00 P.M. on December 1, 2005 located at the 2nd Floor of the new building of NBE.
