Construction of road projects - Ethiopian Roads Authority

1.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has allocated sufficient budget towards the cost of construction of the under listed projects and intends to apply part of the budget to payments under these contracts.

(i)     Construction of Sawla-Kako road Upgrading Project, Contract: 1(70.25 km gravel road DS5 which starts from Sawla side)

(ii)   Construction of Sawla-Kako Road Upgrading Project, Contract: 2 (52.52 km road with 47.82 km gravel road DSS and 4.7 km Double Surface Treatment).

(iii) Construction of Keyafer-Turmi Road Project Upgrading (79.8 km gravel road DS6)

The Roads are located in the Southern Nations Nationalities, and Peoples Regional State (SNNPR) of Ethiopia.

2.      The Ethiopian Roads Authority invites Contractors, which fulfills the following requirements, to submit sealed bids for the construction of road projects mentioned in (1):

a)      In the case of Ethiopian bidders only, its certificate of registration from Ministry of Works and Urban Development with Category GC-1 or RC-1

b)      In the case of bidders other than Ethiopians, any relevant professional practice certificate

c)      Others appropriate documentary evidence demonstrating the bidder?s compliance, which shall include:

i)        Its valid trading license and suppliers registration certificate; and

ii)       Its tax clearance certificate and VAT registration

3.      The work under these contracts consists of construction of the roads to the road standards mentioned in (1) and construction of minor and major drainage structures.

1.      This Invitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 627 of March 31, 2004.

1.      The Road Fund Administration had funds within the Employer?s budget to be used for the procurement of a Contractor for Dengego Sections Routine term Maintenance Road Project.
