Road Rehabilitation Project & upgrading - Ethiopian Roads Authority

Project: Addis Ababa-Weldia Road Rehabilitation project Lot 1: Addis Ababa-Tarmaber Tunnel, contract 1 & contract 2 and Mille-Chifra-Alewuha Road Project Upgrading project, contract 1 & contract 2

1.      Brief Description of the Works:

Addis Ababa-Weldia Road Rehabilitation project Lot 1: Addis Ababa-Tarmaber Tunnel, Contract 1& Contract 2.

The works consist of the Rehabilitation of the existing Asphalt road generally to 7.0 m carriageway width with shoulder, 4 lane new constructions and widening of some section to 4 lane configuration. The entire road (Lot 1) has been put into two separate package, contract 1 km 14+900 to 110+000 and Link from CMC road (Ayat village) to Lege tafo Bridget and contract 2, km 110 to km 180 including rehabilitation of three tunnels of length approximately 600, 60 and 58 meters.

Mille-Chifra-Alewuha Road Upgrading Project, Contract 1 and Contract 2

The works consists of the upgrading of the existing gravel road to asphalt road with 7.0 m carriageway width with shoulder and widening of some section to 4 lane configurations. The length of the road Mille-Chifra-Alewuha road is about 165 km. The entire road has been put into two contracts, contract 1: km 0+000 to km 85+000 and contract 2: km 85+000 to km 164+555.

2.      The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has allocated sufficient budget towards the cost of the Addis Ababa-Weldia Road Rehabilitation project Lot 1: Addis Ababa- Tarmaber Tunnel, contract 1 & contract 2 and Mille-Chifra-Alewuha road Upgrading project contract 1 & contract 2 and intends to apply part of the proceeds to eligible payments for these Contracts.

3.      The Ethiopian Roads Authority now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the Rehabilitation & upgrading of the above mentioned contract with the accompanying earthwork, rehabilitation and construction of pavement with bituminous surface, repair/rehabilitation of existing bridges and drainage structures, construction of new bridges & drainage structures. The construction period is 1095 calendar days for each project contracts.

4.      Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the bidding documents, and are open to all bidders as defined in the Section XI of the bidding documents.

6.      Bidders shall submit three envelopes, ?Qualification Questionnaires?, ?Bid? and a ?Bid security? separately and should be sealed in an outer envelope.

7.      Evaluation is to be carried out in two sages, qualification document first and Bids of qualified bidders next.
