Construction of water supply distribution system - Emergency Recovery Project Management

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of the Emergency Recovery Project and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to eligible payments under the contract for the construction of water supply distribution system at Tyarabora in Afar Region.

A complete et of bidding document may be purchased by any interested eligible bidders at the ERPMU/MOFED Room No. 46/49 upon payment of non-refundable fee of Birr 100 (One Hundred).

Bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding document at the address indicated below.

All bids must be accompany by a bid security of 2% of the bid amount in an acceptable (Cash, CPO, or Bank Guarantee) valid for 90 days and must be delivered to the address below on or before March 27, 2007, 10:00 A.M.

Road Upgrading Project - Ethiopian Roads Authority

This request for pre-qualification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the United Nations Development Business issue No. 694 dated 16 January 2007 and local newspaper in Ethiopia.

The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a loan from the African Development Fund, hereinafter referred to as the ADF, in various currencies towards the cost of the Jimma-Mizan Road Upgrading Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this loan to eligible payments under the contract for which this Invitation for Prequalification is issued.

The Ethiopian Roads Authority, acting for the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia as the Executing Agency and hereinafter referred to as ?The Employer?, intends to prequalify contractors for the following two civil works contract under the project comprising:

i.                     Contract 1: Jimma to bonga Junction (113 km)

ii.                   Contract 2: Bonga to Mizan Junction (120 km)

The two contracts consists of upgrading the exiting gravel road to a bituminous asphalt concrete surfacing on the shoulders, realignments, extending exiting, and providing new drainage structures, widening bridge decks and the provision of balustrade, minor repair work to bridges and erosion protection.

Prequalification is open to firms and voluntarily formed joint ventures from eligible source countries, in accordance with the Rules for Procurement under ADB Group Loans and Grants. Applications may be made for one or both contracts.

1.       This Specific procurement Notice follows the General procurement Notice for this project, which appeared in Development Business Issue No. 592 dated 16 October 2002.

2.       The Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a loan from the African Development Fund in the amount of UA 19,890,000 towards the cost of Harar water Supply and Sanitation project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds of the loan to cover eligible payments under the Contact for the supply and Installation of: a) Electrical and Mechanical Equipment and b) Process Control System.

3.       The Ministry of Water Resources now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply and installation of electro-mechanical and process control equipment as described below.

Supply and installation of complete electrical and mechanical equipment at boreholes, five booster pumping stations, collection tanks and reservoirs. This includes the supply and installation of submersible pumps, and all other mechanical and electrical equipment, plus operation equipment, spare parts and operators training.

Supply and installation of a complete hydraulic control system at a control centre near Dire Dawa controlling the well field, each pumping station and the reservoir at Dengego. An extended period maintenance contract is also to be provided.

4.       The provisions in the Instruction to bidders and in the General Conditions of Contract are the provisions of the Africa Development Bank standard bidding documents: procurement of Goods (Edition January 1997).
