3.       Each bid must be accompanied by an acceptable bid bond in the sum equal to 1% of the bid amount, which shall remain in force for 90 calendar days from the bid opening date and shall be in separate envelope. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) has applied for financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Road Sector Development State III Project (APL 3) and intends to apply part of the process for consultant services. The services include supervision of the construction work, implantation of associated environmental, safety, and resettlement action plans and adverse social impact mitigation measurers for the projects listed below:

The Consulting firm that will be selected for the Construction Supervision of the Yaho-Abala Project., contract 1: Yalo-Nehile road under this SPN will also carry out review of the existing design prior to the bidding of the construction works, to a standard that will be detailed in the RFP.

The expected time of commencement will be in March 2008 for the three projects and June 2008 for Gedo-Nekempte project.

The Ethiopian Roads Authority, representing FDRE, now invites eligible Consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills amount staff etc.) Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank?s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004 and revised in October 2006).
