1.     This Invitation for Bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business Web Site, issue no. PPF No. Q5060, November 2004.

2.      The Government of Ethiopia has received a Credit/Grant form International Development Association toward the cost of Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit/Grant to payments under the contract for drilling, testing and construction of twenty five boreholes in Suburbs of Addis Ababa.

3.      The Addis Ababa Water and Sanitation Development and Rehabilitation Project for Office now invites sealed bids from qualified eligible bidders for the drilling and testing of twenty-five deep boreholes as per the following lots.

4.     Bidders may bid for one or more lots. Evaluation of bids and award of contracts, if any, for combined lots.

8.      Qualification requirements include: (i) ownership (or existing lease) of suitable drilling rig, capable of drilling not less than 500m, with direct air drilling and Rotary (DTH) method, mud rotary drilling method with mud pump capacity not less than 25001ts/min at 7 bars; drilling diameter 14 inch and casing diameter 10 inch (ii) Completion of at least two borehole construction contracts of similar size in the last five years, (iii) average annual tumover of 1.5 times the bid price during the last two years, (iv) liquid assets of at least 10 percent of the bid price per each lot and (v) an experienced drilling team, one hydro geologist and one chief driller should be assigned per lot. A margin of preference for eligible national bidders shall be applied as appropriate. Additional details are provided in the bidding documents.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has allocated foreign currency for the Importation of fertilizer.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MoARD) hereby invites all interested eligible importers to submit their offers for the importation of 75,000 MT#15% DAP fertilizer in three lots.
Detailed guidelines and standard bid documents can be collected against payment of non-refundable Birr 400.00 or USD 50.00 from the Finance Departement of MoARD.
All eligible importers must submit unconditional proof of financial capacity for the importation of the fertilizer. Failure to submit this financial proof will lead to an automatic rejection.
All bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes marked ?Application for foreign Fertilizer procurement No. MoARD/FFPC/D/ICB/003/2007? and addressed to MoARD, Fertilizer Foreign procurement committees,
Addis Ababa. All bids must be accompanied by a 1% bid bond of the import value in an acceptable form such as CPO, or Bank Guarantee only and must be submitted on or before 2:00 P.M.
