The Millennium Villages project, based at The Earth Institute at Columbia University, is a science-based bottom-up approach to lifting developing country villages out of the poverty trap that afflicts more than a billion people worldwide. It also pants to provide in early success on how to achieve the MDGs. It is working in 10 African countries including Ethiopia.

In February 2005, the Millennium Village Project launch the first Millennium Research Village in Ethiopia and the second in Africa in Northern Part of Ethiopia at koraro village in Tigray Region. A year later in 2006, the project was scaled up to 10 more villages near Koraro Research village namely: Megab, Freweyni, Dugum, Debreberhan, Sela, Siluh, Hayelom, Gara-aras, Trenkanet and Hatset and demonstrate early success in attaining the Millennium Development Goals.

The project is seeking reliable and competent supplier of goods quality PV solar system to 12 primary schools, 3 health posts and 3 farmer-training centers. Potential suppliers can collect tender documents from Millennium Development Ethiopia a local NGO established for the implementation and coordination of the Millennium village project in Ethiopia.

Offers should be accompanied by a bid document, company profile, renewed business license for the year 2000 E.C., valid VAT registration certificate.
