Invitation to Bid

1. The Haramaya University has funds within Employer’s budget to be used for the Expansion Works of Haramaya University (1).

2. The works consists of execution and completion of one academic building.

3. Haramaya University invites sealed bids from all registered contractors of Category GC- 1 or BC-1 and having

- Trade license and construction service certificates valid for 2005 Ethiopian Calendar years

- Tax clearance certificates

- VAT Registration certificate and to submit wax-sealed bids for providing the necessary labor, material equipment and any other necessary requirements for the execution and completion of the works.

4. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information at the office of Haramaya University Purchasing and Sales Department Tel. 025-553 0016/63, Fax 025-553-03-25 or Haramaya University Lesion Office in Addis Ababa, General Education Curriculum Frame Work Development Department Building, Office No. 335, in front of American Embassy. Tel. 011 123 66 01 or 09 11 20 89 04.

5. Each prospective bidder proposing to bid for this project must be eligible fulfilling the requirements of the Particular instruction of the Project.

6. A complete set of bidding documents may be purchased by any interested eligible bidder from the addresses mentioned in number 4 with a non- refundable fee of birr 300.00 (three hundred birr only). Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after bid opening and must be accompanied by a bid security of birr 100,000 (one hundred thousand). The bid security shall be payable on demand to the employer, and must be an irrevocable letter of credit, or Bank Guarantee, or a Certified Payment Order (CPO) at the bidders option. The bid along with the bid security must be delivered to the addresses mentioned in number 4 on or before 10:00 am November 23, 2012. No liability will be accepted for loss or late delivery.

7. Bids will be opened in the presence of bidders or bidder’s representative who chose to attend at the addresses mentioned in number 4 on November 23, 2012 at 10:00 am.

8. The construction of the work shall be completed within 450 calendar days from commencement of works.

9. All bids must include 15% VAT (Value Added Tax) on the summary of price quotation.

10. Bidders are instructed to fill, sign and seal all the forms of the bid documents. Failure to fulfill this instruction may -result in automatic rejection.

11. The employer reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, to advertise for new bids or to proceed and do the work otherwise as may be for its best interest.
