Bid Ethiopia

Credit No. 2841-1-ET

1.      The Invitation for bid follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this Project that appeared in the Development Business dated August 31, 1999 and October 16, 2000.

2.      The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) in various currencies toward the cost of the Ethiopian Social Rehabilitation and Development Fund (ESRDF).  It is intended that part of the proceeds of this credit will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the procurement of Medical equipment for health centers, Health Posts, Veterinary, Clinics and Plant protection Laboratory equipment.

3.      ESRDF-central office now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the supply of:

Lot I Medical equipment for 48 Health Posts,

Lot II Medical equipment for 32 Health Centers,

Lot III Medical equipment for 32 Veterinary clinics, and

Lot IV Plant Protection and Laboratory Equipment.

Bidders have the option to bid for any one or more lots.  Bids will be evaluated and contracts awarded for each lot taking into consideration discounts offered if nay in determining the lowest evaluated cost of all lots, which will be the basis for award of contract (s).  Bidders not offering a technically responsive offer for at least 90% of the items in a lot may be treated as incomplete.

4.      Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents at the ESFRDF-central office, Queen Elizabeth Street, Arat Kilo Square, 3^rd floor, Room No. 306, Procurement office, P.O. Box 30006, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Tel. 00251-1-23 99 75/23 99 72, Fax 00251-1-55 11 94. 

5.      A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the above and upon payment of a non-refundable fee US$ 50 or equivalent in Ethiopian Birr.

6.      Bidding will be conducted through International Competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

7.      Bids must be delivered to the above office on or before 10:00 A.M. July 13, 2004 and must be accompanied by a bid security of not less than 2% (two percent) of the bid amount or an equivalent amount in the form of Bank Guarantee, CPO or Cash.

8.      Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders/representatives who choose to attend at 10:00 A.M. July 13, 2004 at the Conference Room of ESRDF, Central Office, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  Late bids will be rejected.
